Aeroplanes and Dirigibles of War.pdf
THE INTRODUCTION OF AIRCRAFT INTO MILITARY OPERATIONS
It is a curious circumstance that an invention, which is hailed
as being one of the greatest achievements ever recorded in the
march of civilisation, should be devoted essentially to the
maiming of humanity and the destruction of property. In no
other trend of human endeavour is this factor so potently
demonstrated as in connection with Man's Conquest of the Air.
The dogged struggle against the blind forces of Nature was waged
tenaciously and perseveringly for centuries. But the measure of
success recorded from time to time was so disappointing as to
convey the impression, except in a limited circle, that the
problem was impossible of solution. In the meantime wondrous
changes had taken place
in the methods of transportation by land
and sea. The steam and electric railway, steam propulsion of
vessels, and mechanical movement along the highroads had been
evolved and advanced to a high standard of perfection, to the
untold advantage of the community. Consequently it was argued,
if only a system of travel along the aerial highways could be
established, then all other methods of mechanical transportation
would be rendered, if not entirely obsolete, at least antiquated.

Ivor Horton's Beginning Visual C++ 2008.Pdf
Ivor Hortons Beginning Visual C++ 2008 : Because of the importance and pervasiveness of database technology today, the book also includes introductions to the techniques you can use for accessing data sources in both MFC and Windows Forms applications. MFC applications are relatively coding-intensive compared to Windows Forms applications. This is because you create the latter using a highly developed design capability in Visual C++ 2008 that enables you to assemble the entire graphical user interface (GUI) for an application graphically and have all the code that creates it generated automatically. For this reason, there are more pages in the book devoted to MFC programming than to Windows Forms programming.

Ajax Creating Web Pages with Asynchronous JavaScript and XML.pdf
Ajax Creating Web Pages with Asynchronous JavaScript and XML : Using Ajax, you can build Web applications with the sophistication and usability of traditional desktop applications and you can do it using standards and open source software. Now, for the first time, there's an easy, example-driven guide to Ajax for every Web and open source developer, regardless of experience. Edmond Woychowsky begins with simple techniques involving only HTML and basic JavaScript. Then, one step at a time, he introduces techniques for building increasingly rich applications. Don't worry if you're not an expert on Ajax's underlying technologies; Woychowsky offers refreshers on them, from JavaScript to the XMLHttpRequest object. You'll also find multiple open source technologies and open ...

Beginning XML with DOM and Ajax From Novice to Professional.Pdf
Beginning XML with DOM and Ajax From Novice to Professional : This books aims to provide a “one-stop shop” for developers who want to learn how to build Extensible Markup Language (XML) web applications. It explains XML and its role in the web development world. The book also introduces specific XML vocabularies and related XML recommendations. I wrote the book for web developers at all levels. For those developers unfamiliar with XML applications, the book provides a great starting point and introduces some important client- and server-side techniques. More experienced developers can benefit from exposure to important coding techniques and understanding the workflow involved in creating XML applications. The book starts with an explanation of XML and introduces the different components of an XML document. It then shows some related recommendations, including Document Type Definitions (DTDs), XML schema, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT), XPath, XLink, and XPointer. I cover some common XML vocabularies, such as Extensible HyperText Markup Language (XHTML), Mathematical Markup Language (MathML), and Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG)....

Fujitsu LifeBook U810 Review

The perfect UMPC The Japanese computer hardware manufacturer and vendor Fujitsu announced the launch of a new UMPC computing system named LifeBook U810. The Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC for short) systems from Fujitsu are known for being very small and sleek with pleasant designs but without sacrificing computing power. Another important feature of this UMPC system is its price tag, at least $500 less than similar solutions from competing companies. According to the news site DailyTech, the LifeBook U810, or FMV-U8240 as it is known on several regional markets, packs quite a few features inside its tiny frame. The total weight of the device is almost one kilogram and that including the 5.6 inch widescreen format display capable of a 1024×600 resolution.
The processing capabilities of the LifeBook are centered around an 800MHz Intel mobile A110 processor backed up by one gigabyte of DDR2 system memory, while the storage space comes in the form of a 40GB hard disk drive. Integrated networking options are especially important for a mobile system so the Fujitsu LifeBook U810 comes with Bluetooth version 2.0 and EDR enabled as well as a wireless network controller, the Atheros Super AG 802.11a/b/g, while wired networks are accessible thanks to the 10/100 network interface card. As expansion options we find an USB 2.0 port as well as a VGA one alongside a CompactFlash slot and Secure Digital slot. For security reasons a fingerprint reading sensor is included too. The 5.6? display screen is very mobile and besides various user defined positions it can be placed in two standard setups: a traditional laptop-like view and a setup where the screen covers the entire body of the UMPC. The latter setup is also known as a slated layout that users may find useful when writing or reading. The energy required by the LifeBook U810 is provided by a battery with a nominal lifetime of 5.5 hours as it is made of four power cells which store 5200mAh thanks to the lithium-ion setup. The LifeBook U810 will be available to customers with two separate operating systems: Windows Vista Premium, or Windows XP Tablet PC Edition.non government

4D Ajax Framework v11 component comes in two flavors, For 4D 2004 and For 4D v11 SQL. Thus, there are two sets of installation instructions.
- Installing the 4D Ajax Framework v11 component in a 4D 2004 database
- Installing the 4D Ajax Framework v11 component in a 4D V11 SQL database Follow the set that best suits your situation.
Installing the 4D Ajax Framework v11 component in a 4D 2004 database
Installing the Component
It is recommended that you make a backup of your database structure before installing the 4D Ajax Framework component.
1 Open your 4D database with 4D Insider
2 In the menu bar select Components -> Install/Update…
3 In the resulting dialog select the 4D Ajax Framework component (.4CP file) found in the installer’s “For 4D 2004” folder and click the Open button.
4 When installation completes quit 4D Insider.
Installing the Plugins Folder
4D Ajax Framework makes use of the 4D Pack plugin when serving its web pages. If you already have a “Plugins” folder next to your structure, simply copy the 4D Pack plugin into this folder. If you do not currently have a “Plugins” folder next to your structure, create this folder and copy the 4D Pack plugin into it.
Installing the Web Pages
Included with the 4D Ajax Framework component is a folder “Webfolder” that contains all of the HTML and JavaScript pages, which are used to serve your database to a web browser. Depending on whether or not you are currently serving your database to the web, you will need to do one of two things to install the “Webfolder” folder.
• If you are not currently using the built in 4D web server copy the “Webfolder” folder next to your 4D database structure file.
• If you are already serving web pages from 4D copy the entire contents of the “Webfolder” folder into your existing root web folder.
Installing the Support Folder
4D Ajax Framework uses XML files to save various settings. These files are stored in the Extras\Support folder next to the database structure. Various files are included with the 4D Ajax Framework component that must be placed in this folder. Other files will be generated automatically when 4D Ajax Framework starts up and shuts down.
1 If you do not currently have a folder name “Extras” next to your structure create one.
2 Copy the “Support” folder that is included with 4D Ajax Framework to the Extras folder.
NOTE: If you already have a Support folder inside your Extras folder simply copy the enclosed files into your Support folder.
